Robert N. Desrocher, 91, a former resident of Salem, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 with his family by his side. He was the devoted husband of Anna V. (Henry) Desrocher, with whom he shared 65 Years of marriage.
Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Donat and Meralda (Plante) Desrocher. He was a graduate of St. Joseph School and Salem Vocational School. Bob was a veteran of the Korean War and served stateside, with the Navy in New London, CT. Following his tour of duty he began working as an apprentice for Naumkeag Lumber and then worked there for several years. Robert was a gifted finish carpenter who specialized in architectural wood detail products for Jules Gourdeau Construction Co. of Beverly. Bob retired from Gourdeau after thirty years with the company.
He was devoted to his wife and family and enjoyed creating finely crafted
cabinetry for the homes of family and friends. He was a member of the Salem Knights of Columbus and in his youth, he was an avid fisherman and hunter.
In addition to his wife Anna, he is survived by his sons, Daniel R. Desrocher and wife Susan of Beverly, Douglas G. Desrocher and wife Carmen of Danvers, Brian R. Desrocher and wife Robin and Mark P. Desrocher and wife Stacy all of Austin, TX and daughter, Karen J. Desrocher of Beverly. He also leaves two brothers, Normand and Edward Desrocher of Salem, and sisters, Lorraine McLaughlin of Peabody, Gloria Hayes and Pauline Malionek both of Salem and Jeannette Daunais of Amherst, NH, as well as 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Donald R. Desrocher.
