Obituary

Jack Warren Van Gundy, 81, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2004, at Tift Health Care. His funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 8, 2004, at Tifton's First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sam Rogers, the Rev. Jerry Lillard and the Rev. Jay Roberson officiating. Mr. Van Gundy was entombed at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Dr. Robert Coleman, Talmadge Webb, Larry Newton, Dr. Marcus Roberts, John Greene and Bob Rutherford served as pallbearers.

Born July 14, 1923, in Des Moines, Iowa, Mr. Van Gundy was the son of the late George Van Gundy and Virginia Troutman Van Gundy. He was the owner and operator of the Town Terrace Motel in Tifton, which was the first motel to be established in the city limits of Tifton; and he was a member of Tifton's First United Methodist Church.

Mr. Van Gundy is survived by two sisters, Violet Van Gundy of Tifton and Mildred King of Tempe, Arizona.
