JoAnn Hunsinger Tucker, 61, of Tifton passed away Saturday, April 24, 2004, at her residence. Her funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2004, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Richard Carr and the Rev. Betty Lanier Walker officiating. Mrs. Tucker was laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens.
Randy C. Roberts, Tony Powell, Austin Tucker, James L. Hall Jr., Elvin Hall and Billy Powell served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Patricia Hinde, Brenda Terrell, Giselle Stevens, Karen Rutherford, Dr. Tisha Williams and Staff, Dr. Lora Efaw, Valorie Cottongim-Hughes, Linda Johnson, Christine McAllister, Judy Eldridge, Bernease Okongwu and Wendy Garrett.
Born March 18, 1943, in Neosho, Missouri, Mrs. Tucker was the daughter of the late Abner Van Hunsinger and Sybil Mae Williams Powell. She was also preceded in death by her step-father, Marvin Powell; and one sister, Nannie Lou "Susie" Hall. She was a retired beautician; and she was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Tifton. She enjoyed fishing and making Christmas trees from baby food jars; and she had lived in Tifton most of her life.
Mrs. Tucker is survived by her husband, Lawrence E. Tucker of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Lisa Tucker of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Vicky and Dalon Dotson of Tifton; three brothers, Charles "Toby" Powell and Johnny "Buddy" Powell, both of Tifton and Fran Hunsinger of Seattle, Washington; one sister, Joan Hunsinger Miller of Modesto, California; and three grandsons, Justin Dotson, Brad Dotson and Ryan Tucker, all of Tifton.
