Peabody
Philip L. Abodeely, 75, of Peabody, passed away with his wife by his side, Sunday, March 17, 2024 at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Mary Ellen (Foster) Abodeely with whom he had shared 30 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Frederick and Cecile M. (Beaulieu) Abodeely. He was a graduate of both St. Joseph Elementary and High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Salem State College. As a young student, Phil was a good all around athlete, but excelled in basketball. He had a varied work history, first working for United Airlines and later as a funeral assistant at the Levesque Funeral Home. His current employment was as a driver for the Torigian Senior Center in Peabody. He was a former member of St. Joseph Parish and currently a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody
Phil was kind and compassionate and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed time spent with family and friends. He had a keen sense of style and enjoyed making the rounds of outlet stores with friends. Phil was also a terrific cook specializing in desserts. His off handed humor and desserts will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife Mary Ellen, he is survived by his brother Frederick “Frank” and wife JoAnn Abodeely of Salem, his sister, Ann Elder of Auburn, NH, his nephews, Michael Abodeely and wife Nina of Salem, Mark Abodeely of Charleston, SC, Adam Elder and wife Beth of New Hampshire. He also leaves many cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church, 17 Chestnut St. [Behind City Hall} Peabody at 12 Noon on Thursday, March 21, 2023.
There will be no visiting hours. In Lieu of flowers, kindly consider a gift in his memory to St. Vincent de Paul Society c/o St. John the Baptist Parish, Peabody or Mary Queen of the Apostle Parish, Salem. Assisting his family with arrangements is the Levesque Funeral Home of Salem.
