Betty Garrett Teal, 68, of Ashburn, formerly of Tifton, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2004, at Archbald Memorial Hospital in Thomasville. A graveside funeral service was held for Mrs. Teal at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2004, at Oak Ridge Cemetery, where she was laid to rest. The Rev. Tim Bice officiated.
Scott Matthews, Wayne Simmons, Rick Gladney, Huey Griner Jr., Justin Willingham and Tyler Tyson served as pallbearers.
Born February 23, 1925, in Tift County, Mrs. Teal was the daughter of the late Leon Garrett and Addie Mae Thompson Garrett. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Zane Teal; one daughter Charlotte Teal; one brother, L. J. Garrett; and one sister, Jo Brooks. She was a homemaker; and she was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Teal is survived by one son, Steven Teal of Gainesville; four daughters, Regina Disharoon of Gainesville, Shane Matthews of Albany and Judy Tyson and Songa Griner, both of Nashville; two sisters, Margie Jones of Poulan and Sara Simmons of Tifton; eleven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
