Obituary

Jimmy Don Tripp, 47, of Tifton passed away Monday, December 13, 2004, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 16, 2004, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Gary Minton and the Rev. Jeffrey Wells officiating. Mr. Trip was laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Chris Little, Wesley Tripp, Neal Curry, Christopher Singletary, Jason Trice and Michael Rutland served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were John Bowen, Alvin Powell and members of the Turkey Hill Hunting Club.

Born September 19, 1957, in Belle Glade, Florida, Mr. Tripp was the son of Peggy Joyce Salmon Jumonville of Tifton and Donald and Janice Tripp of Ocilla. He was a warehouse worked in the amusement park industry; and he was a member of Ty Ty United Methodist Church. He was a warm and loving husband, son and family man, who loved hunting, fishing and NASCAR. He had lived in Tift County since 1986.

In addition to his parents and step-mother, Mr. Tripp is survived by his wife, Catherine Virginia Powell Tripp of Tifton; one son, Jimmy Don Duncan of Belle Glade, Florida; one step-son and his wife, Michael and Melida Purvis of Leesburg; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Tommy Tripp of Leesburg and Ronnie and Marsha Tripp of Bellview, Florida; two step-brothers, Victor Crews and Jay Crews, both of Florida; two sisters, Linda Tripp of Jacksonville, Florida and Sue Tripp of Ocilla; two step-sisters, Karen Schwingel and Kathy Hutto, both of Florida; one granddaughter, Kayla Purvis; three brothers-in-law and their wives, Edward Jr. and Catherine Powell of Westminster, Maryland, Alvin Powell of Ty Ty and Joseph and Cindy Powell of Glen Burnie, Maryland; three sisters-in-law and their husbands, Christine Dayhoff of Ty Ty, Diane and William Singletary of Poulan and Darlene Reeves of Tifton; his father-in-law and his wife, Edward and Sharon Powell of Ty Ty; his mother-in-law and her husband, Catherine and Walter Collins, Sr. of Tifton; twenty nephews; sixteen nieces; two great-nieces; five great-nephews; and three beloved pets, Gabby Ann, Dusty and Sam.
