Bobby Gene Williamson, age 64, of Ocilla, Georgia, passed away Friday, March 15, 2024, surrounded by his family at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.
Funeral services will be held 1 PM, Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Ocilla Church of God in Ocilla, Georgia, with the Rev. Josh Bowles and the Rev. Clayton Dowd officiating. Eulogies will be given by Lori Capps, Evan Williamson, Sean Williamson, Marnita DenBok, and Edmund “Buddy” Williamson. Interment will follow in the Thomas Family Cemetery, Irwin County. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Bobby was born January 26, 1960, in Marion, Indiana, to the late Edmund and Verbileene Sullivan Williamson. Following high school graduation, he began his career working as a certified pipe fitter, eventually advancing to the position of project manager for various construction jobs in the Southeast. In November, he began his 16th year working for Adama (formerly Bold) corporation in Ocilla, Georgia, where he held the title of Production Manager. He was a faithful member of Ocilla Church of God where he enjoyed singing in the choir. He excelled at woodworking and carpentry and led many projects at home as well as for various church and community functions. Bobby was one of the foundational leaders of the recreational soccer league in Irwin County and coached many players, including his own children. Bobby was a devoted husband, father, and papa. He loved spending time with his large extended family playing cards, retelling stories from his youth, and taking trips to the mountains or the beach.
Bobby is survived by his wife of 45 years, Glenda Thomas Williamson of Ocilla; his children: Chad Williamson of Ocilla, Sean Williamson (Le’Anne) of Ocilla, Evan Williamson of Warner Robins, and Lori Capps (Mitchell) of Austell; his grandchildren, Logan Williamson, Cain Williamson, Bailey Williamson, and Chloe Capps; his sister, Marnita DenBok (Tony) of Stayner, Ontario, Canada; his brother, Edmund “Buddy” Williamson (Christy) of Panama City, Florida; sister-in-law, Diana Williamson of Jonesboro, Indiana; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Williamson; and an infant sister, Gethema Williamson.
