LACONIA ---- Judith Ann (Greenhalgh) Nelson, 88, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at the Taylor Community in Laconia. She was enjoying the afternoon sun on the balcony of her residence with friends when she threw up her arms and proclaimed "I'm going to the beach!". Those were her last words.
Those final words epitomized Judy's life. There truly was no other place she would ever rather be, but at the beach. She grew up on the shores of Rhode Island with her mother, father and 3 siblings. She and one of her sisters spent many happy hours sailing a little skiff in Narragansett Bay.
Judy graduated from Maine's Westbrook College earning a secretarial degree. She was very proud of her time spent as a clerk in the collection department of Boston Gas Company.
Judy was always on the go... she enjoyed bowling, golfing, bike riding, skiing and traveling. Judy loved the theater, going to parties and mostly just being with friends. She was an active member of the Opechee Garden Club and the Congregational Church of Laconia.
Judith was predeceased by her loving husband, Stuart A. Nelson, Jr. She is survived by her two children and three step-children and their families. She always said she was blessed to have many thoughtful and loving grandchildren and step-grandchildren. She had a full life.
There will be a private family service on the beaches of Rhode Island.
In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in Judy's name to The Sunshine Fund, Taylor Community Development Office, 435 Union Avenue, Laconia, NH 03246.
