Obituary

Stavros Sotiropoulos, 84, of Worcester, died Saturday, Match 16th in the St. Francis Rehabilitation Nursing Home. He is survived by his son, George Sotiropoulos and his wife, Susan Scanlon of Worcester; his daughter, Mary Sotiropoulos of Worcester; two sisters, Maria Enetzelis of Worcester and Konstantina Chatzopoulos of Southbridge; four grandchildren, Nicholas, Connor, Magdalena and Christina; and his great-grandson Samuel Campoverde and many nephews and nieces.

He was born in Hrisohorafa, Greece the son of George and Melpomeni (Tananidis) Sotiropoulos. He had been employed as a machinist for many years, specializing in the manufacturing of cables. He was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral and was involved in Alzheimer and Dementia Groups while at St. Francis Rehabilitation Nursing Home.

He was also a member of Alexander the Great Cultural Club where he enjoyed watching soccer and playing cards and socializing with other Greek members. He enjoyed time spent with his family especially his grandchildren.

Friends and family will honor Stavros by gathering on Wednesday, March 20th for a calling hour in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. followed by his funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the Cathedral. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
