Mrs. Kathleen C. (Mahoney) Sheehy, a longtime resident of Andover and beloved wife of the late Augustine P. "Gus" Sheehy, passed away following a long illness at the Nevins Nursing Center in Methuen on Sunday morning, March 17, 2024. She was 90 years old.
Kathleen was born in Chicopee, Massachusetts, on April 2, 1933, the beloved daughter of the late Dennis and Mary Mahoney. In addition to her parents and husband Kathleen is predeceased by her brother, Dennis Mahoney and sister, Mary Ruth St. John. Kathleen will be dearly missed by her daughter Kathy Fitzgerald and her husband William of Methuen and her son, Jeffrey Sheehy and his wife Karen of Hampton, New Hampshire, grandchildren, Matthew Fitzgerald, Allison Fitzgerald, Joshua Fitzgerald, Bridget Tipton and Jeffrey Sheehy, Jr. and five great-grandchildren.
Kathleen was a graduate of Holy Name High School in Chicopee and Bryant College in Providence, Rhode Island. After Kathleen's parents had passed away, she moved to Coventry, Rhode Island to live with her brother, Dennis and his family. After college, she moved to Lawrence to live with her sister, Ruth and her husband, Pat. That is where Kathleen met her future husband, Augustine. They were married on August 16, 1953.
Along with raising her children, Kathleen spent over sixty years working in her husband's businesses; Home Truck Leasing, Whittemore Company and Dundee Properties. In addition, she volunteered at the Holy Family Hospital for 52 years. She was a longtime and devoted parishioner of St. Augustine Parish in Andover and St. Theresa's Parish in Rye, New Hampshire. Kathleen was also a longtime member of the Abenaqui Country Club in Rye, New Hampshire.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Augustine Church, 43 Essex Street, Andover on Friday, March 22, 2024, at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Calling hours will be held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover on Thursday, March 21, 2024, from 4 to 8 PM. Interment will be held in the St. Augustine Cemetery in Andover.
