FALMOUTH- Martha “Twink” Day Edwards passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at the home her son, Nathan, surrounded by family. She was born on April 12, 1943 to parents, Cecil and Martha Day. She lived in Belgrade and Augusta, graduating from Cony High School in 1961. On September 14, 1963 she married David Edwards and, after living in Bangor for a while, they moved to East Hampton, New York, David’s hometown, where they raised 6 children. This was ideal for Twink, as she could take the kids to the beach every day during the summer and work on her tan.
Twink’s parents were faithful Jehovah’s Witnesses and shared their love for Jehovah God with her and her sister, Rebecca. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on January 26, 1959 and spent many hours happily sharing the Good News of God’s Kingdom with her neighbors, right up until the day she died. Her rock-solid faith in the resurrection carried her through her difficult illness and was an amazing example for her family, friends and caregivers to witness. Twink was more encouraging to her visitors than they were to her! She had an incredible sense of humor down to the end.
She was predeceased by her father, Cecil Day and her daughter-in-law, Janet Edwards.
She is survived by her husband, David Edwards, mother, Martha Day, sister Rebecca (Rick) Foster, sons Matthew (Kris) Edwards, Andrew Edwards, Benjamin (Antoinette) Edwards, Nathan (Katie) Edwards, daughters Kim Day and Carrie Huff as well as 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 6 at 2:00pm, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 8 Cross Hill Road, Augusta, Maine. Zoom credentials will be provided upon request.
The Edwards Family would like to thank Hospice of Southern Maine for their compassionate care these past months allowing Twink to pass away at home in dignity and peace.
