Obituary



Anthony Carl DeFlumeri of Burlington (formerly of Stoneham) passed away on March 11, 2024, from a lengthy battle with dementia. He was 88 years old. Anthony was born in Boston and was the son of Antonio DeFlumeri and Viola (Russo) DeFlumeri.

Anthony and his brother Robert grew up in Medford on Cummings Street surrounded by family. He often spoke fondly about these times and how he loved being surrounded by them and especially being spoiled by all the good cooks in the family. Anthony also had a group of close friends that graduated from Medford High that he remained close to still to this day.

Anthony after high school he graduated college with a degree in Electrical Engineering and Business Administration. He would then go on to be a Project Manager and Electrical Engineer at Guzowski and Rotman Electrical. He was a big part of designing and implementing the electrical in many of the Boston buildings in the 70’s,80’s, and 90’s.

While in college he met his future wife Ethel (Morgan) DeFlumeri, also known as Ann. He would often tell the story of how when he first met her, she turned the chair to avoid him. He would also say that he was persistent, and after 63 years of marriage he was grateful he did. Every day he was here he told her how much he loved her.

Anthony was also active in town politics, the Boy Scouts, and was part of a team that helped build and design the Boys Club in Stoneham. In his spare time, he loved being on his computer, gardening, cookouts in Medford, travelling, enjoying his wife’s cooking, and going out to eat with his wife and family,

Anthony is survived by his 3 children. David DeFlumeri of Burlington, Sarah (Diane) DeFlumeri of Boston, and Anthony DeFlumeri of Fairfax Virginia. He was also the grandfather of eight grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at the Lindenwood Cemetery, Montvale Ave., Stoneham, on Wednesday, March 20th at 11 AM. Please meet inside the main gate at 10:45 AM to join the procession to graveside.
