Worcester – Ruth A. (Landry) Viens, 79, of Worcester, passed away peacefully in Notre Dame du Lac on Friday, March 15, 2024 after a brief illness.
Ruth was married for 50 years to the late, Donald J. Viens who passed away in 2022. She is survived by her two sons, Andre C. Viens and his wife, Heather of Holden and Mark P. Viens and his wife, Rachel of Webster; 8 grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
Mrs. Viens was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Madie J. and Lucille R. (Bishop) Landry and is also predeceased by a brother, Robert J. Landry.
Ruth was raised in Worcester and graduated from Annhurst College in Woodstock, CT and worked for many years as an early childhood educator with the Guild of St. Agnes.
Ruth was an active member of Saint George’s Church and volunteered in many capacities for the church. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, crafting and reading but she was truly the happiest when she was spending time with her family.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 20 from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Saint George Church 38 Brattle St. Worcester. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 19 from 5 to 7 PM in the funeral home. Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Viens may be made to St. George Church.
