Edmond Ernest Mercure, 86, of Salem, NH, passed away Thursday March 14, 2024, in his home with his beloved wife by his side. He was born on June 15, 1937, in Derry, NH, a son of the late Walter and Lena (Levesque) Mercure. Upon graduation from Pinkerton Academy in Derry, where he met his first wife, Beverly, Edmond served three years in the National Guard.
Edmond loved horses and horse racing. He enjoyed his work for many years as a money manager for Rockingham Park in Salem. At one time he even owned a racehorse that he took to race at other local tracks. He enjoyed swimming and insisted on having a pool at his home. He took his health and fitness seriously and made sure to take great care of himself. He tried to always look his absolute best. Edmond and his first wife Beverly would get themselves all dressed to the nines before heading out to walk the mall in their fancy duds and then dance the night away. They enjoyed a deep love for one another, until Beverly passed away in 1995. Edmond was fortunate to have found Connie and started a new chapter of his life. Connie thinks of him as her hero and, she was his angel. Edmond will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his love of fireworks and puttering in the yard.
Edmond is survived by his wife, Connie (Taylor) Mercure of Salem; his son, Edmond P. Mercure of Salem, and his fiancé Lynda Miller-Blauvelt; his daughter, Lorraine Boyce and husband Steven Boyce of Auburn, NH; one grandson, Tyler Boyce and his girlfriend Te-Anna Stiazny; step daughter, Tiffany Mahany and her husband Jeremy and granddaughter, Harper Rose Mahany. Edmond was predeceased by his first wife and mother of his children, Beverly Cecelia Mercure in 1995 and his brother, Roland Mercure in 2004.
There are no calling hours. Graveside services will be held on Monday March 18, 2024, at 11:00am in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Gilcreast Road, Londonderry. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry is handling the arrangements.
