Carmen N. Santana Troche, age 85 of Weymouth, formerly of Boston died peacefully in her daughter's home following a period of declining health brought by Alzheimer's Disease and Vascular Dementia. Carmen was born and raised in San German, PR to the late Tomas Santana and Maria Troche. Born during the Great Depression, she completed primary school and assisted in raising eight siblings on the family farm. She devoted herself to the family. She was intelligent, patient, gentle, courageous and selfless. Her beautiful soul never stopped shining through no matter what she was going through. Her generous spirit and loving nature shine through. She moved to the mainland as a single mother, enrolling in the Boston Cathedral of the Holy Cross Adult Basic Education Program learning English and Math, later becoming a factory worker full-time during the day in the North End of Boston, as a fish tender. In the evenings, she worked in janitorial services. With grit and determination, she raised her children as a single mother. She taught us the importance of hard work and the value of an education. She was a talented gardener, tending to flowers in her home. She enjoyed cooking, listening to the radio, traveling with family, visiting places such as Canada, Paris, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, London, and Ireland. We extend our gratitude to friends, family and the medical team. When she became homebound a family member installed a ramp. It was a beautiful act of kindness. A special thank you to friends and family members who visit her. You helped provide laughter in a loving way. She is survived by many family members, siblings, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren, including a granddaughter in law school and a grandson in medical school. Carmen N. Santana Troche, de 85 años de Weymouth, anteriormente de Boston, murió pacíficamente en la casa de su hija luego de un período de deterioro de la salud provocado por la enfermedad de Alzheimer y la demencia vascular. Carmen nació y creció en San Germán, PR, hija del fallecido Tomás Santana y María Troche.
