KITTERY POINT- Dr. John Joseph McDevitt, 4th, age 85, passed away on March 13, 2024, at home from natural causes. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on May 15, 1938, son of the late Honorable John J. McDevitt, 3rd, and Miriam Mahoney. John graduated from Chestnut Hill Academy, Yale University, and The Wharton School earning his MBA. He went to Temple University obtaining his medical degree in 1969. John’s post graduate training was at EJ Meyer and Buffalo General Hospitals in Buffalo, New York culminating with his Gastroenterology Board Certification in 1975. John moved to Maine in 1975, where he practiced gastroenterology for 35 years in Bangor. He raised beefalo at his Outback Farm in Monroe, and was an avid world traveler.
John was predeceased by his sister, Miriam (Mimsie) Stuhldreher; is survived by his sons, Ian and Matthew; his wife, Joyce Greeley McDevitt; his stepchildren, Andrew and Heidi; his eight grandchildren; and nephew Tim Stuhldreher.
