Catherine G. “Kay” (Scordino) DeSimone of Norwood, formerly of Jamaica Plain, passed away peacefully at Sunrise of Norwood, on March 10, 2024. She was 91 years old.
Devoted mother of Edward R. of Boston and Ronald A. DeSimone of Norwood. Dear sister of Geraldine Willman and her late husband Herbert “Bert” of Norwood, Anne Larkin and her husband Thomas “Tom” of Bedford, and the late Tony, Frank, and Charles Scordino. Loving grandmother of Anthony L. of Norwood, Christopher E. of Fitchburg, and William A. DeSimone of Boston. Great grandmother of Adrianna L. of Boston, Chase, and Noah of Leominster. Godmother of Michael Verrochi and John Larkin. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Born and raised in Jamaica Plain, she graduated from Roxbury Memorial High School and later earned her Bachelor's and Master’s degrees from the University of Massachusetts in Boston where she majored in Criminal Justice and was the long-time Clerk Magistrate of the Suffolk County Superior Court.
Kay loved music and dancing. She was the lead organizer of regular reunions with Jamaica Plain friends and family.
She was a philanthropist and often held fundraising dinner dances which contributed significantly to programs for the disabled.
Visiting Hours in the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre St., West Roxbury on Thursday, March 21st from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. Followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Theresa of Avila Church at 12:00 pm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment St. Michael Cemetery, Roslindale.
