Rita Ritchotte, 96, of Ritchotte Court, a lifelong resident of West Warwick, RI, stepped into eternity on March 9, 2024. She was surrounded by her children.
Born in West Warwick, she was one of seven children of the late Oscar and Adrienne (Pelletier) Ouellette. She was the beloved wife of the late Rudolphe H. Ritchotte, the mother of the late Dianne (DeDe) M. Governo and the mother-in-law of the late Robert A. D'Amico.
Rita is survived by her son, Henry J. Ritchotte and his wife, Paula, her daughters, Louise M. D'Amico and Caroline T. Ritchotte and her partner, Michael, and son-in-law, John Governo. She was "Memere" to six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Rita dedicated her life to her family and home. She was a life long member of St. John the Baptist Church, West Warwick. In the 70's, with her expertise sewing skills she became one of santa's elves at a Christmas factory in West Warwick. She created icontic Santa Clause suits and Christmas stockings of all sizes including her 5ft human size stocking that brought us many laughs. Her imprint may be on some of your now vintage holiday stockings. Her joy was flower gardening and there wasn't a flower that wouldn't bloom for her.
After 36 years, Rita has now joined her loving husband, Rudy. May they rest peacefully.
At the family's request, calling hours are omitted and a private burial ceremony will be held at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, RI.
