Dennis P. Olson, 76, of Abington, MA, passed away on March 10, 2024. He leaves behind his lovely wife Melodie (Barrows) Olson.
He was born on May 4, 1947, son of the late Carlton and Marguerite (Atwood) Olson. Dennis was a well-respected businessman, owning D.P. Olson Co., specializing in home improvements. He was a dedicated individual who fought a long 12-year battle with lung cancer, receiving exceptional care at Dana Farber in Boston.
Dennis was a graduate of Abington High school, class of 1965. After high school he went on to further his education at Southeastern Mass University. Later, Dennis proudly served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He was deeply involved with the Abington American Legion, serving through the many chairs at the Abington American Legion Post 112 and District 10, and overseeing the Meat Raffle Fundraisers.
He will be remembered as a kind, loving, and incredible man by all who knew him.
In addition to his lovely wife Melodie (Barrows) Olson, he also leaves behind his stepchildren William Akusis Jr. of Abington and Jennifer and her husband William Stadelmann Jr. of Middleboro, and Bampa to four grandchildren, Matthew Davieau, Arianna Akusis, Morgan Stadelmann, and Jake Stadelmann, His brother Dale Olson of Abington, LeeAnn and her husband Tony Trigler of Hanson. As well as his nieces and nephew; Antonia Solitro, Annaliese
Fodera, Andreas Trigler. He also leaves behind his beloved canine companion, Bart.
Dennis was predeceased by his brother Douglas Olson.
Family and friends are invited to attend Dennis’s visiting hours Friday March 15, from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:00 in the United Church of Christ, Abington. A Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Abington.
