Fred W. Eastman passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 7th, 2024 at the age of 73 after a long hospital stay.
He was born the only son of the late Walter and Norma Eastman of Rockland, MA. Fred graduated from Rockland High School and worked as a metal fabricator. He went on to start his own business, Eastman Railing Company, creating wrought iron railings; many of which are still in place today. An entrepreneur at heart, he later established a new business called Fun 4 All Moonwalks; a party rental business. He loved running this business alongside the help of his children.
After living in Hanson for a number of years, he returned to his roots in Rockland, at the home he grew up in. He remarried in 2007 to Laurie, his "buddy" of over 24 years.
With a desire to keep the 50s and 60s alive, Fred loved hot rods, the drive in, and would often listen and sing along to Roy Orbison and Buddy Holly among other oldies artists. His family will remember him as a charmer and a man who always instilled in them to be financially sound and to do things right with a good conscience. He loved doing various projects with them. More recently, he took pride in his yardwork, home upgrades and his elaborate Christmas village set up.
He is survived by his wife, Laurie (Croke) Eastman, his four children Christy Hunter and her husband Jeff of Hanson, Cory Eastman of Rockland, Todd Eastman and his wife Melissa of Rockland, Taylor Eastman of Plymouth, his step-children, Billy Croke of Pembroke, Sherry Evers and her husband James of Rockland, Mike Dignan and his wife Jessica of Hull, his five grandchildren, Toby, Jesse, Zoey, Charlotte, and Evan, step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other caring people he would consider family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Norma Eastman, his sisters Karen Romeo- Routhier and Jacqueline Hyland and his former wife, Cheryl Eastman.
Family and friends are invited to attend Fred’s visiting hours Thursday, March 14th from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. A funeral service will be held Friday, March 15th, at 10:00 AM in the funeral chapel, followed by a burial at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Rockland.
