CHICOPEE – Donald A. Lacoste, 94, of the Willimansett section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Friday, March 8, 2024. He passed into Eternal Life at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born at home in Chicopee on September 19, 1929, a beloved son of the late Adrian and Cecile (Fournier) Lacoste. He was raised in Willimansett, graduated from Cathedral High School in Springfield and was a lifelong resident of the city. Don furthered his education and received an Associate Degree in Business from Holyoke Community College. He was employed for 36 years as an Accountant for the Government at the former American Bosch in Chicopee and retired in 1987. He later was the Office Manager for Leonard Berneche Construction Company in Chicopee and also worked part time for many years for the Arthur J. Brunelle Funeral Home in Chicopee. He was a longtime communicant of the former Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Chicopee. Most of all, he loved his family and his many friends. He leaves his beloved wife and soul mate, Dorilla G. (Boutin) Lacoste. They were married on September 19, 1953 at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 70 years of happiness together. He also leaves his three loving children, David D. Lacoste of Chicopee, Rosemarie Gaudrault of West Springfield, and Lisa A. Duczynski and her husband, Gregory, of Ledyard, CT; his six cherished grandchildren, Jonathan Lacoste, Sarah Baldwin, Seth Baldwin and his wife, Sharon, Alyssa Merrifield and her husband, Christopher, Adam Duczynski and his wife, Britney, and Alexander Duczynski and his partner, Lauren; his ten cherished great-grandchildren, Oliver, Holden and Xander Lacoste, Hanna and Brian Smith and Sam Coffelt; Riley and Henley Merrifield, and Nora Duczynski and Baby Girl Duczynski who is due in April; his dear brother, Gerald Lacoste and his wife, Sandy, of Texas; his two dear sisters-in-law, Elaine Lacoste and Germaine Milliken; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins numerous friends and extended family members. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his dear brother, Adrian “Slim” Lacoste and his dear sister, Vivian Godek and her husband, Chester. His funeral will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020 (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 594 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
