Westbrook- Doretta J. Chandler "Jane", age 69 passed away on March 7th, 2024, at Springbrook Center in Westbrook, ME.
She was born in Marlborough, MA on August 30th, 1954, daughter to the late Maurice S. Powell Jr and biological mother the late Carrie J. Numnik, lovingly raised by her stepmother the late Pauline (Baker) Powell.
She spent many years serving the public at local restaurants, transporting travelers at the Portland Jetport, and even a bit of time in construction driving a steam roller. She pursued a college degree at age 42, graduating with honors from SMTC, and became a registered dietetic technician until she retired.
Jane loved to be outside and would sit and relax with soothing music playing. She found peace in nature. Often she would collect a piece of bark with moss, or an interesting shaped rock to bring home to craft with. She saw beauty everywhere and these bits of the earth were her medium. If she was not outside she could be found in the kitchen with an apron cooking something delicious. She loved deeply and fought her battles bravely. A beautiful soul that will be truly missed.
Jane is predeceased by her sister Barbara Powell, brother Robert Powell, and her parents.
She is survived by her daughters Sarah Jirik and Carrie Bell, her son David Godek, her sisters Catherine Powell and Maureen Powell, her brothers Glenn Powell and Raymond Powell, 5 grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
