TEWKSBURY: John S. “Jack” King, age 93, a longtime Tewksbury resident, passed away at home in the care of his family and hospice on Wednesday, March 6, 2024.
He was the beloved husband of Marie E. (Mason) King, who passed away on April 9, 2009.
Born in Chelsea on July 13, 1930, he was the son of the late Edward King and the late Mary (Power) King.
Jack was raised in Tewksbury. He attended local schools and graduated from Tewksbury High School Class of 1948.
In 1951, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War aboard the U.S.S. Grand Canyon. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the National Defense Service Ribbon for his active-duty service.
He was employed at Ft. Devens in Ayer as a HVAC Estimator and after his retirement he worked part time at Billerica Housing Authority
Jack was a member of the Tewksbury Golden Age Club and Senior Walk-In-Center, where he and his late wife enjoyed numerous activities, social events, and day trips.
In his spare time, he spent many hours in his yard gardening, he also enjoyed golfing and spending time with his 3 sons and their families.
Jack is survived by his three sons, Michael King and his wife Valerie (Ansill), of Chelmsford, Brian King and his wife Diane (Cushenette), of Yarmouth and Naples, FL, and John King and his wife Michelle (Caron), of Dracut: his grandchildren, Jacqueline Wooster and her husband Jesse, Caralyn Seibert and her husband Nicholas, James and his wife Kali , Tyler and his wife Jasmine, Devin and partner Thyda Nuth, and Lillan King and partner Hannah Moriarty: his great grandchildren, Reese and Quinn Wooster, Evelyn, Elizabeth and James Seibert, and Ford King. Jack also leaves his dear friend Gail White with whom he spent the later years of his life traveling and spending time with. He leaves many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Jack was the brother of the late Helen Webber, Edward King and Mary Mackey.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, March 13th, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury, immediately followed by a memorial service to be held at the funeral home and interment of Jack's ashes at Tewksbury Cemetery.
