DUDLEY – Anthony P. “Tony” Kondek, 82, died peacefully Wednesday, March 6, 2024 in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester after a brief illness with his family by his side.
He leaves his wife of 58 years, Jean A. (Robbins) Kondek; a son, Anthony P. Kondek, Jr. and his wife Kimberley; a daughter, Suzanne L. Carty and her husband Timothy, all of Dudley; 5 grandchildren, Nicholas Kondek, Peter Kondek, Owen Kondek, Cole Carty and Nathan Carty; a brother, Charles Kondek of Hudson, NY; a sister, Maryann Yurek and her husband Stephen of Dudley.
He was born on July 17, 1941 in Webster and raised there, a son of Charles and Helen (Roszkiewicz) Kondek and graduated from Bartlett High School in 1959. He moved to Dudley in 1975.
Mr. Kondek was employed as an optical worker for 43 years at American Optical Company in Southbridge. He retired in 2005. He also worked for Evanski Bakery as a caterer.
He was a member of Saint Joseph Basilica. He served in the Army National Guard and was secretary for the Booster Athletic Club in Webster. He enjoyed golf, gardening, trips to Maine, the casino and scratch tickets. His greatest joy was attending his grandson's sporting events and spending time with his family.
A memorial Mass will be held Friday, March 15, at 11:00 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street, Webster. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace. A calling period will take place in church from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Friday before the Mass. The family requests flowers be omitted and that donations be made to Saint Joseph School Fund, 47 Whitcomb Street, Webster, MA 01570. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster.
