Roger Joseph Toni of Westport, passed away peacefully at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River on March 5, 2024. For the last ten months, Roger was a resident of Prosper Assisted Living on Columbia Street where he made many acquaintances and thoroughly enjoyed his view of the Taunton River beyond the familiar Braga Bridge and Battleship Cove.
Roger was predeceased by his loving wife of over fifty years, Barbara (Cabral), who passed away in 2014. They enjoyed a Silver Anniversary brunch attended by family and friends.
He was born to the late Francesco and Antoinette (Pieroni) on August 31, 1937 at their new home on King Philip Street, and attended Holy Rosary Church as a child.
Roger received a Bachelor’s Degree from Fitchburg College prior to his Master’s Degree in special education and long career with Fairhaven Public Schools.
He was most proud of his family and friendships developed over decades in education. He took great pleasure in travels to China, Egypt, Las Vegas, and East Coast destinations with his beloved wife, sons, daughter in law and grandchildren. He will be missed by many, especially family and friends including the Lambert family.
Roger is survived by his two sons, Kevin Toni and his wife Ellen Cooney of Barnstable and Keith “Joe” Toni of Westport, his sisters, Edith Levesque of Fall River and Francis Hart of Somerset, his grandchildren Matthew Brendan of TN and Mikaela Toni-Miller and her husband Ron of VA; a great grandchild Alexandra Jane, brother in law Thomas Cabral (Betty), sister in law Anna Pieroni, nephews, Alan Levesque (Pam) and Mike Pieroni, nieces Chris Mandeville (Joe) and Leslie Pieroni and great niece, Aubrey Levesque. He was predeceased by his niece Kathy Pieroni
Family members want to thank Santa Cruz Hospice and Clifton Rehabilitation for their many hours of skilled therapy and nursing services.
Memorial visitation to which relatives and friends are invited will be Thursday, March 28, 2024 at the Potter Funeral Home from 2-4 P.M.
Service and interment will be private.
