Joanne (Ciesla) Mailloux Murphy, 84, of Westport, unexpectedly passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Roland N. Mailloux and the late John P. Murphy.
Mrs. Mailloux Murphy was born in Fall River, daughter of the late John and Stella (Twardzik) Ciesla and was a longtime resident of Westport before relocating to Fall River. Prior to her retirement, she worked for the Fall River Housing Authority. She loved to cook golumpkis and in her earlier years, would sell them at Johnnie's Market, a Polish store owned by her parents in Fall River. She enjoyed boating and quahoging on the Westport River with her husband John and was an avid gardener. Mrs. Mailloux Murphy was a frequent contributor to Letters to the Editor, a column published in the Fall River Herald News. Mrs. Mailloux Murphy loved music, dancing, attending concerts, and socializing. She was so proud of her grandson, Kenny. She was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, Westport. She loved spending time with her family and her beloved cat Clint.
Survivors include her son: John R. Mailloux and his wife Paula of Westport; her daughter: Lynda J. Mackenzie of Westport Point; sister: Judith Michalewich and her husband Richard of Somerset; her grandson: Kenneth Mackenzie V; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Janice Ciesla and Lydia Ciesla.
Funeral service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Monday, March 11, 2024 at the Potter Funeral Home at 7:00 P.M.
Calling hours will be Monday from 5-7 P.M. prior to the service.
Interment will be private.
