Kasha Swiatkowski, 80
Dateline: Norton, MA
Kasha Swiatkowski of Norton, MA, age 80, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2024. Born in Providence, RI in 1944, she was the daughter of the late John and Frances Swiatkowski, and the sister of Barbara Palacios.
As a child she studied the piano. Her father instilled in her an appreciation of classical music and the importance of reading and traveling. She became a truly avid reader and learner and became very knowledgeable in many subjects. During her earlier school years her Father planned Educational Trips during the entire month of February. The sisters were taken out of school and their mother homeschooled them during that time. The family visited every State minus Hawaii and Alaska, dozens of the National Parks, famous places and numerous Historical Sites. They even drove to Mexico City one February.
After graduating from Pawtucket West High she studied Floristry and Floral Arrangement Design. She later worked in three companies in Massachusetts, finally retiring from Autopart International in Norton. During vacations from work she continued traveling to many far-off places including much of Mexico, Canada, Puerto Rico, Ecuador, Colombia, France, Italy, Germany, Poland and Indonesia.
After retiring she spent many hours volunteering at the Literacy Center in Attleboro, the Norton Veterans’ Services Department, the Affordable Housing Board, Habitat for Humanity and the Norton Senior Center. For many years she wrote articles as a Sun Chronicle correspondent.
Over the years she painted in watercolor and pastels. Kasha loved nature, animals, and the outdoors. She began taking horseback lessons in her late 50’s. She was an accomplished equestrian and she continued to ride well into her 70’s.
She was a member of the New Hope Christian Church in Swansea for 20 years and thereafter became a member at the Church of Emmanuel in Foxboro.
Kasha leaves behind many dear friends in addition to her only sibling Barbara. She will be missed by all.
An outdoor Memorial Service is planned for Saturday, May 18th at 10:30 AM at the Church of Emmanuel (106 Central St, Foxboro, MA). All are welcome to attend and celebrate Kasha’s life.
