David M. Martin, 71, of New Bedford died March 1, 2024 unexpectedly at home. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was the companion of the late Doreen A. (Roderick) Hawk.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Albert N. and Thelma A. (Macomber) Martin, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
David was formerly employed at Chuckran auto salvage in Bridgewater until his retirement in 2011.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and he was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
Survivors include his daughter, Lisa Pelletier and her husband Guy of New Bedford; his step-children, Matthew Hawk, Sr and his wife Kathleen and Heidi Sanders and her husband James, all of New Bedford; 2 brothers, Albert Martin and his wife Margarete of Fairhaven and Richard Martin of Fall River; 5 sisters, Linda Tyler of Pine Bush, NY, Diane Leaturneu of New Bedford, Joann Martin and Gail Gosselin, both of Old Town, Florida and Kim Hileman and her husband Charles of North Port, Florida, 8 grandchildren, Nicholas Martin, Skye Pelletier, Dawn Sanders, Nicole Sanders, Shane Sanders, Matthew Hawk, Jr. and his wife Makayla, Daniel Hawk and Andrew Hawk; 3 great-grandchildren, Collin, Caysin and Cade; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Rita Ann Augustine, Carol Costa-Crowell, Kathleen Souza, Robbin Leferve and Darlene Martin.
His Funeral Service will be private.
