HIRAM- Eugene Merrill Harmon, age 66, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2024.
He was born in Westbrook, Maine on July 31, 1957, a son of the late Merrill and Alberta Harmon and graduated from Greenfield High School.
Eugene worked his entire working life as a self-employed carpenter and was known for his craftsmanship, whether it was building a entire home or remodeling project.
He enjoyed old cars and restoring them to like new – especially 1960’s Mustangs. Eugene also enjoyed woodworking, was a history buff, and riding the railroad buggy that he built to ride many miles of track.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his significant other- Janet Harmon; stepmother- Julia Harmon; and siblings- Debbie Willette, Shelley Gallagher, Agnes Phillips, and Nancy Bucci.
Eugene is survived by his children- Kristy Harmon of Biddeford, Danny Harmon of Hiram, and Kenny Harmon and his wife Judith of Hiram; siblings- Marguerite Harmon, Pat Babb, Kenneth Harmon, Bobby Brown, Nelsen Brown, Nancy St. Germaine, Bonnie Dwyer, Judy Neverette, Bicycle Bob, and Laureen Souve; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one expected great granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday March 15 at 2 PM at the Poitras, Neal & York Funeral Home, 71 Maple St., Cornish. A gathering will be held for family and friends after the service at 200 Durgintown Road, Hiram. Burial will be at a later date at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Hiram.
