Melvin “Mel” Thomas Robinson

Melvin “Mel” Thomas Robinson, 92, formerly of Anderson passed away on March 1, 2024 at his home in Macon, GA following a very brief illness.
He was born on October 25, 1931 in Elwood, IN to the late Floyd and Edith (Patton) Robinson. He graduated from Windfall High School. He served in the US Army.
He was an engineer at Delco Remy for 35 years and retired in 1998.
He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Anderson and New Providence Baptist Church in Forsyth, GA. He enjoyed playing golf, watching NASCAR, and was an adventure seeker who enjoyed hot air balloon rides, hang gliding, glider planes, skydiving, and drove both NASCAR and Indy Cars.
He is survived by his three daughters, Melinda (Jay) Chrisman of Greenwood, Kimberly (Brad) Vannatta of Frankton, and Tammy (Brian) Blann of Macon, GA; 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren; sister, Rosetta Beals of Tipton; daughter-in-law, Jennifer McGahey of Elwood; sister-in-law, Mary Robinson of Tipton; beloved dog, Chloe; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carolyn Sue Robinson on November 23, 2022; two daughters, Candace Robinson and Kathryn Staley; son, Stephen McGahey; grandson, Jay Chrisman Jr; and four siblings, Gene Robinson, Fred Robinson, Loren Robinson and Judy McGinnis.
Funeral service will be at 12:00pm on Friday, March 8, 2024 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor Brian Moore officiating. Burial and military rites will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:00am -12:00pm on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to New Providence Baptist Church or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
