Gladys Cromer Pearman, 95, of Tifton passed away Monday, December 6, 2004, at Tift Health Care. Her funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 8, 2004, at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Chula with the Rev. Larry Layfield and the Rev. Paul Day officiating. Mrs. Pearman was laid to rest at Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Chula.
Buddy Clements, Mike Pearman, Robert Clements, Ray Pearman Jr., Larry Clements, Greg Pearman, Rick Pearman-Gillman, Grant Loosier, Alex Pereira and Donnie Robbins served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Chula and the ladies of II Sunday School Class at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Chula.
Born April 13, 1909, in Tift County, Mrs. Pearman was the daughter of the late James Pressley Cromer and Elizabeth Ray Cromer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hoke S. Pearman, who passed away in March of 1995; one son, Virgil Lee Pearman; one daughter, Yvonne Pearman Clements; four brothers; and six sisters. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Chula; a homemaker; and she worked as a volunteer for the Pink Ladies for 15 years. She was also a Sunday School secretary for many years; she was a lifelong resident of Tift County; and she was a recipient of the George A. Wright Senior Citizen of the Year award.
Mrs. Pearman is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Raymond S. and Merle Pearman of Wilmington, North Carolina; one daughter and son-in-law, Nell and Foy Harrell of Tifton; a son-in-law, Bill Clements of Tifton; ten grandchildren, Debbie Robbins, Buddy Clements, Pat Loosier, Mila Pearman, Kim Pearman-Gillman, Robert Clements, Vickie Pereira, Ray Pearman, Larry Clements and Greg Pearman; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
