Joseph A. Rossetti, 64, of Medford sadly left us on March 1st, 2024. The beloved son of Sonny and Ellie (MacDonald) Rossetti, Joe is survived by his beloved wife Cheri (Love) Rossetti, his daughter Ashley Ewen and her husband Jake, and his sons AJ Rossetti and Billy Goode, all of Medford. Joseph was the dear brother of Tricia Rossetti Banks and her husband Mark of Medford, and Mike Rossetti and his wife Debbie. He is also survived by his nephew Christopher of Saugus. On top of his love for his family was his love for dogs and not just his own. Joe never met a dog he didn’t instantly fall in love with!
Joe was born in Cambridge and raised in Medford. He graduated from Pope John XXIII in Everett, class of 1977. Joe started his career at Tra-Con, Inc. of Medford, but worked in retail at Star Market for 25+ years, as well as Atlas Liquors in Medford for over 20 years. His passion was always football and he played Pop Warner Football for Medford, continuing on to Pope John XXIII where he played for his high school team. His passion for the game was so great that he wanted to stay close to it, which lead him to a 47 year career coaching. He started out by helping the youth of Medford, teaching them the game he so loved. In 2001, he was able to realize his dream of always being a Mustang by coaching for Medford High School, where he was so happy to coach both of his boys while his daughter cheered for Medford High as well.
Joe had stops along the way at Malden Catholic, St. Clement, Belmont High, Arlington Catholic and ultimately was able to finish his career coaching beside his son, AJ, at Medford High. Coach Joe has impacted countless lives with his advice to the players both on and off the field. His impact is felt by the relationships he continued to have with his players, many years after they graduated.
Joe’s other interests included travel, especially the annual family trips to Disney, his Harley Davidson and his time spent with his fraternal brothers at Mt. Olivet Lodge of Cambridge, the Shriners in Wilmington, where he served with the Temple Guard, as well as the Low Twelve Riders of Massachusetts.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Wednesday, March 6th from 4 through 8 PM, and again on Thursday, March 7th at 10 AM followed by a service in the funeral home at 11 AM.
