Obituary

Sherman "Shank" Nolan, 76, of Jacksonville, Florida, originally of Ty Ty, passed away Friday, December 31, 2004, at Kindred Hospital North Florida in Green Cove Springs, Florida. His funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 5, 2005, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mr. Nolan was laid to rest at Zion Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Tifton.

Born December 26, 1928, in Ty Ty, Mr. Nolan was the son of the late John Virgil Nolan and Bertha Brillie Bledsoe Nolan. He was one of 13 children. He was a planner and estimator for the Naval Air Rework Facility; and he had served in the United States Air Force for a combined total of 33 years of federal service.

Mr. Nolan is survived by his wife, Thelma Jane Wood Nolan; one son and daughter-in-law Jimmy Randall and Donna Nolan; two daughters and one son-in-law, Myrna Jean Nolan and Katherine and Mike Loader; seven grandchildren, Laura Sabo, Amy Kerns, Jennifer Duncan, Aaron Duncan, Sinya Moore, Brandy Snider and Kevin Nolan; ten great-grandchildren, Ambur, Jayde, Wyatt, Larry, Teresa, Aerial, Kody, Jordan, Lindsey and Payten; one sister and brother-in-law, Thelma Nolan and James Freeman Hester of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; and one brother, Thurman Nolan of Lincoln, Nebraska.
