Bobby Elbert McCrary, 68, of Destin, Florida passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2004, at the University of Alabama Birmingham Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. His funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2004, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. John S. Gibbs, Sr. officiating. Mr. McCrary was laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Coy Whittington, Jim Pearson, Don Leyman, Larry McCrary, Beda Forest and G. W. Willis served as pallbearers.
Born June 10, 1935, in Tift County, Mr. McCrary was the son of Willie Mae Willis McCrary of Tifton and the late Elbert McCrary. He served in the Georgia national Guard and was a division president with Vulcan Materials Company. He was a member of the Burnt Pine Club in Sandestin, Florida.
In addition to his mother, Mr. McCrary is survived by his wife, Orene Watson McCrary of Destin, Florida; one daughter and son-in-law, pam and Dale Schaeffer of Chattanooga, Tennessee; one sister, Sarah Nesmith of Tifton; and two grandsons, Kyle Schaeffer and Cory Schaeffer.
