Winefred Kirkland Mitchell, 77, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at her residence. Her funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 15, 2004, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Jay Roberson officiating. Mrs. Mitchell was laid to rest and Douglas City Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, April 15, 2004.
Born May 31, 1926, in Douglas, Mrs. Mitchell was the daughter of the late Thomas Presley Kirkland and Venita Vickers Kirkland. She retired from the Georgia Peanut Commission; and she was a member of Tifton's First United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Mitchell is survived by her former husband, Steve Mitchell of Tifton; two sons, John Richard Tschudin of Birmingham, Alabama and Presley K. Mitchell of Marietta; two daughters, Melanie Marshall of Watkinsville and Cindy Julian of Clarksville; and seven grandchildren.
