Bessie Lee Gibbs Martin, 92, of Tifton passed away Sunday, August 8, 2004, at her residence. A graveside funeral service was held for Mrs. Martin At Turner Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery on Monday, August 9, 2004.
Born June 10, 1912, in Irwin County, Mrs. Martin was the daughter of the late Azor Oscar Gibbs and Annie Lillian Brown Gibbs. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carlton Theodore Martin. She was a homemaker; and she was a member of Pinetta Baptist Church in Irwin County.
Mrs. Martin is survived by one daughter, Frances Martin Croft of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, George G. and Linda Martin of Tifton; one sister, Gladys Gibbs Cooper of Barnesville; three granddaughters, Vivian Lee Crost of Tifton and Pamela Jane Wedenfeller and Julie Dianne Jimerson, both of Jacksonville, Florida; two grandsons, George Benjamin Croft and George Michael Martin, both of Jacksonville, Florida; five great-grandchildren, Lauren Piper Crost, Jason Wedenfeller, Any Wedenfeller, Jordan Jimerson and Molly Jimerson, all of Jacksonville, Florida; and three step-grandchildren, Nathan Gable, Evonne bass and Tonya Jordan.
