LEICESTER___Halina Lange, 86, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at St. Francis Rehab and Nursing Center of Worcester. She was born in Mogielnica, Poland on August 28, 1938 a daughter of Stanislaw and Czeslawa (Stelmach) Bogaj. Being the eldest with step mother and step brothers and sister, she learned how to work very hard early in life. She immigrated to the United States in 1957 and lived in Hartford, Ct., where she met her first husband, Edward Pluciennik. They shared a daughter, Cindy Barbara who was born in March of 1960. Edward passed away in April of the same year so Halina and daughter moved to Westfield, MA., to be close to family. There she met the love of her life, Erich Lange, and they married in 1961. They shared a son, Edward Richard who was born in October of 1962. They moved to Worcester, MA., being close to family and friends and becoming members of Our Lady of Czestochowa.
Halina worked many years as a seamstress at Diane Marion and finally retired from Hanover Insurance as an office clerk. Halina worked very hard from morning to night, cooking, cleaning and gardening. If you were lucky enough to get invited for tea, it was usually a five course meal, mostly made from scratch, including items from her gardens and sampling her home made wine and deserts that would put a bakery to shame.
She enjoyed family time especially her grandchildren, Burgess Halina Powell, Adam Tyler Lange and Trisha Elizabeth Lange. She was predeceased by her husband, Erich Lange in 2018 and her daughter, Cindy Pluciennik Powell in 2008. She leaves a son, Edward Richard Lange and his wife, Tina, all her grandchildren, her son-in-law, Andy Powell and step brothers and sister in Poland and close family and friends here. Again, thankful acknowledgements to Aunt Irene and Uncle Bob Couture for all their help during this troublesome time. We hope everyone remembers how happy Halinka was being surrounded by beautiful flowers.
The funeral will be held on Monday March 4, 2024 from HENRY - DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 34 Ward Street, Worcester with a Mass at 10:30 A.M. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward Street, Worcester. Calling hours are Sunday, March 3, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Flowers kindly accepted.
