Obituary

Worcester – Edwin R. Hultquist, 96, of Worcester, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, February 26, 2024 while surrounded by his family.

Mr. Hultquist is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 73 years, Ruth B. (Kacavich) Hultquist; three sons, Kenneth Hultquist and his wife, Marie of Worcester, Brian Hultquist and his wife, Dot of Rutland, Richard Hultquist and his wife, Patty of Worcester; a daughter, Donna Magarian and her husband, Wayne of Kingman, AZ; a daughter-in-law, Pamela Hultquist of Worcester; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was born in Worcester, son of the late Harry and Mildred (Scott) Hultquist and is also predeceased by a son, Russell Hultquist; two brothers, Harry Hultquist Jr. and Kenneth Hultquist and a sister, Mildred Rondeau.

Ed graduated from the former Commerce High School in Worcester and he proudly served our nation in the United States Army during World War II. He spent the majority of his career with Verizon, retiring after 27 years of service in 1995 as a warehouse worker.

Mr. Hultquist enjoyed traveling, especially going to Hampton beach with his family and taking cruises with his wife, Ruth. He would very rarely say no to an offer to take a ride to the casino but he was truly the happiest when he was spending time with his family.

A funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 5 at 11 AM in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester. Burial with military honors will take place in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are on Monday, March 4 from 5 to 7 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Hultquist may be made to Why Me c/o Sherry’s House 1152 Pleasant St. Worcester, MA 01602.

The family would like to thank the staff of Brookhaven Hospice. They would especially like to thank, Nicole Leger, Ada Melgar, Bree Cobb and Kimberly, for their thoughtful and compassionate care.
