Clarence D. "C. D." Moore, Jr., 83, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at his residence. His funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 9, 2004, in the Memorial Chapel of Tifton's First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. W. Ches Smith III and the Rev. Dr. Wayne Roe officiating. A eulogy was given by Stan Moore. Mr. Moore was laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery.\
David Stone, Christopher Stone, Tommy Stone Jr., Coy Stone, Kevin Baines, Stan Moore, Roger dill, Richard Garrett and David Keith served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were the men of the Paul Lucas Sunday School Class at Tifton's First Baptist Church, E. G. Bird, Lamar Jackson, Guy Blasingame, Powell Gaines, Emmett Bowe3rs, Bob Case, Stewart Gilbert, Jemes Tolbert and Ken Hall.
Born August 17, 1920, in Tift County, Mr. Moore was the son of the late Clarence D. Moore, Sr. and Ila Brand Moore. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen Kent Moore; two brothers; and one sister. Before retiring, he was co-owner of Kent's Furniture in Tifton; and he was a member of Tifton's First Baptist Church. He was a decorated veteran of World War II and served in the F-337th Infantry.
Mr. Moore is survived by three daughters, Susan Kennedy of Albany, Polly Baines of Indialantic, Florida and Genie McMillan of Macon; one sister, Mildred Medford of Tifton; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
