Walter Russell Arrington, 78, of Tifton died Tuesday, July 11, 2006, at Phoebe-Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2006, at 3:00 p.m. at Pineview Holiness Baptist Church. Rev. Silas Carver, Rev. Edsel Young and Rev. Larry Bowen will officiate with burial to follow in Pineview Holiness Baptist Church Cemetery. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be the men of Pineview Holiness Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 12, 2006, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Arrington was born on February 4, 1928 in Tift County and was the son of Jessie Russell Arrington and Helen McBrayer Arrington Cranford, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. He was a retired farmer and a member of Pineview Holiness Baptist Church.
Mr. Arrington is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Benson Arrington of Tifton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Brenda Arrington of Tifton and Stevie and Susan Arrington of Tifton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Bobby Hancock of Tifton, Donna and Richard Hill of Tifton and Karen and Randall Tillery of Tifton; one brother and sister-in-law, L. A. and Janice Arrington of Lenox; one sister and brother-in-law, Sara and Earl Manley of Dublin; eight grandchildren, Brooke Robbins and her husband, Richard, Private Thomas Hancock, Ricky Hill and his wife, Wren, Amanda Hill, Brandon Tucker, Kaylee Tillery, Stephanie Arrington and Jacob Arrington; and two great grandchildren, Chloe Robbins and Paige Hill.
