Gerald G. Moothart, age 94, of Mansfield, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at the Alliance Health at Maples in Wrentham. He was the beloved husband of the late Patricia L. (Nelson) Moothart, to whom he was wed for forty-seven years at the time of her death on February 16, 2004.
Born in Morrison, Illinois on April 5, 1929, he was a loving son of the late Donald G. and Emma M. (Legel) Moothart.
Jerry grew up in Chadwick, Illinois and was a 1948 graduate of Chadwick High School. During the Korean War, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy aboard the USS Worcester.
An electrician by trade, Mr. Moothart had worked at the former L.G. Balfour Co. in North Attleboro and was the former owner and operator of Moothart Electric.
Jerry was a member and National Past Great Incohonee of the Improved Order of Redman, a member of the American Legion, the Delaware Grange and served as a volunteer for Hospice New Beginning in Delaware as well.
Jerry loved spending time with his adoring family and his hobbies included playing cards, doing puzzles and socializing with friends at the Norton and Mansfield Senior Centers over a good game of bingo. He was also an accomplished poet and wrote the book POEMS GALORE FOR YOU TO ADORE.
He was the devoted father of Gerald G. Moothart, Jr. and his wife Anne of Conway, NH, Mary L. McIntosh and her husband William of Mansfield and the late Sherylann Ford. He was the cherished grandfather of Geoff Giles, Gerald G. Moothart, III, Gilbert Moothart, Amanda Cabrera, Billy McIntosh, Justin McIntosh, Katrina McIntosh and the great grandfather of Savannah, Amie and Trent. He was the loving companion of Ruth Topper. He was the dear brother of the late Donald Moothart, Jr., Gilbert Moothart and Gale Moothart. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, March 3rd from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.
His funeral service will be held on Monday, March 4th at 10:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home. Burial, along with military honors, will follow at the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield.
