Judith C. (Chapman) Shumilla, age 81, of Lowell, formerly of Tewksbury, passed away at D’Youville Senior Care in Lowell on Monday, February 26, 2024.
She was the devoted mother of Jennifer A. O’Mahony and her husband Donogh, of San Mateo, CA and loving grandmother of Judith, Helen and Donogh O’Mahony, all of San Mateo, CA.
Judy was born in Lowell on May 25, 1942, the daughter of the late William G. Chapman and the late Beatrice F. (Bolton) Chapman.
She was raised in Tewksbury and graduated from Tewksbury High School. Following high school, she attended the Chandler School for Women in Boston, where she received professional training in the secretarial field.
Prior to her retirement, Judy worked as a secretary for The Mitre Corporation and Bull.
Judy attended the Lawrence Street Methodist Church in Lowell and over the past two years enjoyed attending services at the D’Youville Chapel with her friends.
In addition to her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren, she leaves many beloved cousins, extended family members and friends.
Judy was the former wife of Stanley W. Shumilla, Jr., who passed away in 2012.
Calling hours are Monday, March 4th, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury, immediately followed by prayer services to be held at the funeral home and interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Judy’s memory may be made to the Salvation Army of Massachusetts.
