Oliveiros "Ti-Bei" DePina, 92, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 25, 2024. He was the loving husband of the late Eugenia (Fernandes) DePina.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde, son of the late Vasco DeBarros and Maria DePina, he lived in Cape Verde for many years before immigrating to New Bedford.
Ti-Bei worked as a merchant mariner in Holland for many years to provide for his family. He was a dedicated father providing for his 11 children. He worked at Ocean Spray for many years while living in New Bedford. Ti-Bei loved to dance and listen to music. He was very outgoing and friendly.
Survivors include his children, Maria Ribeiro, Eugenio DePina, Margarida DePina, Ecilda Andrade, Oliveiro DePina, Manuel DePina, Julia DePina, Eduardo DePina and Olavo DaLomba; his siblings, Daniel DeBarros and Natalia Barbosa; 40 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his children, Madalena Guevara and Amancio DePina; his grandchildren, Napolean "Junior" Candida and Gina Pires; and his siblings, Caitano DePina, Joao DePina, Constancia DePina, Ecilda Fortes, and Arminda DaRosa.
His funeral will be held on Monday March 4th at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM.
