Maria C. (Silva) Da Silva, 71, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully after a brief illness with her children at her side on Saturday, February 24, 2024.
Born in St. Michael, Portugal, daughter of the late Humberto and Ernestina Silva, she lived in Holbrook most of her life before living in Fall River and New Bedford.
Maria focused on raising her children as a hardworking single mother. She enjoyed laughing, dancing, playing dominoes, gardening, going to the beach, playing pranks on people, and gathering as a family. Maria was a very caring person who would always take care of others.
Maria worked for the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health, and had a great affection for the friends of Bill W.
Survivors include her children, Paul Da Silva and his fiancée Heather Watson of Rhode Island, David Da Silva and his wife Michelle of Hanson, MA, Julie Pickering and her husband Timothy of New Bedford; and Kristie Rego; her siblings Olga Silva, Fatima Gaspar, and Tony Silva; her grandchildren, Joey Da Silva, Brittany Lagsdin and her husband Eric, David Da Silva, and Jacob Pickering.
