Elisa “Lisa” A. Stewart, 92, of Centerville, MA, formerly of Medford, MA, passed away on February 25th, 2024 in Kingston, MA. Born on June 14th, 1931 in Medford, she was the beloved daughter of the late Rocco and Constandina (Piccariello) Cardinale, and sister of the late Severia Ciociola. Lisa was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Harvey H. Stewart, and is survived by her four children: Michael Stewart and his wife Denny of Loveland, CO, Christine Shea and her late husband Richard of Plymouth, MA, Deborah Stewart and her husband George of Salem, NH, and Robert Stewart and his wife Nicole of Medford. Lisa is also survived by her loving grandchildren: Brendan Shea and wife Jane, Erin McCabe and husband Brian, and Ryan and Ashley Stewart.
Lisa was a proud Medford resident for the majority of her life, having grown up, in addition to raising her own family, on Yale Street in South Medford, the home that her father built after arriving from Italy in the early 1900’s. She loved to cook, everything from homemade pasta and meatballs, to collard greens, cornbread and fried okra for her late husband, who loved his southern food, having grown up in Alabama.
In the summer months, Lisa and Harvey vacationed in Wolfeboro, NH, where they spent 25-plus years together, enjoying the lake-life, gardening, crafting and hosting family and many friends. Upon her late husband’s retirement, they transitioned together to Cape Cod and Centerville. Lisa was very active at the senior center in Centerville and enjoyed participating in craft fairs, going on gambling trips to Mohegan Sun and simply helping others. Lisa will be sorely missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing her.
A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner St., Medford, on Friday, March 8th at 10 AM followed by a celebration of Lisa’s life. Interment will be held privately at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Lisa’s name to the Cape Cod Veterans, PO Box 81, Dennis-port, MA 02639.
