Obituary

Virginia H. “Gini” (Gould) Blunt, age 89, of Wrentham, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2024 at her home. Born in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Everett F. and Minerva (Ritchie) Gould.

Gini was a loving mother who cherished her family above all else. She would do anything for her children. Also a doting grandmother, Gini never missed a recital, football game, concert or any other event in which her grandchildren were involved. She took immense pride in all of their accomplishments.

Gini's kind heart could also be seen in her love of animals. She loved and adored all animals and had a special fondness for dogs and horses. Animals seemed to gravitate towards her and her soft heart.

She had a passion for dancing and would immediately head to the dance floor; people would follow her as if she was the Pied Piper whenever the music played. It did not matter where she was or who she was with, Gini was the dancing queen.

Gini was the epitome of a true beach bum, finding joy in the calm and relaxing atmosphere of the beach. She enjoyed walking along the shore, people watching, ocean splashing, dancing under the pavilion and just soaking up the sun.

Without a doubt, Halloween was her favorite holiday. She loved getting creative with her costumes and the crazier the costume the more fun she had. Her most memorable costumes included a toilet, a bull, a Viking, a were-wolf, a crazy doctor, and, who could forget, Lady Gaga!

Gini had a zest for life and enjoyed life to the fullest, whether it was line dancing, Zumba, aerobics, tai-chi or just the day to day stuff. She was a kind, caring, fun loving, spunky woman with a heart of gold who will live on in everyone lucky enough to have known her and even those that never had the chance to meet her.

Gini is survived by her three daughters: Maureen (Moe) Blunt of Attleboro, Susan Blunt of Wrentham and Janet Oliveira and her husband Mark of Middleboro. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren: Tullio Marino and his wife Kate, Alexis Dusseault, Tiffany Oliveira, Mark Oliveira, Jr. and his wife Kaitlyn, Shawn Oliveira and his wife Cindy, Kyle Oliviera and Morgan Oliveira. Additionally, she leaves behind five great grandchildren: Emma Weiner, Lainey Marino, Addy and JT Oliveira, and Caleb Oliveira. Gini was preceded in death by her grandchildren Ashley and Adam Mahoney.

In her professional life, Gini began her career at Plymouth Home National Bank, before working at Aetna Insurance and finally at Mobil as a customer service representative.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Gini’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452 or to an Animal Dog Shelter of your choice.
