Virginia M. (Perillo) Scimemi of Medford passed away peacefully Friday, February 23rd at Ledgewood Rehabilitation Center of Beverly. She was 93. A native of East Boston, she was the daughter of the late Gustave and the late Elizabeth (Brogna) Perillo.
Virginia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was very devoted to her family and delighted in taking care of her grandchildren. She loved to cook and lived for all the holidays. Her favorite was Christmas, for which she would plan far in advance of the day, thinking about what she was going to cook, etc. Easter also was a very important holiday for her and her family. At home you could often hear her listening to the music of Frank Sinatra. She worked for many years as an accountant at the Massachusetts Department of Revenue. Amongst her responsibilities there was assisting in making large deposits into the accounts of the Commonwealth.
The beloved wife of Enrico “Rico” Scimemi, Virginia was a devoted mother to Rick Scimemi and his wife Cathy of Medford and Michele Settipane and her husband Jim of Beverly. She was a loving grandmother to James, Michael, and Janele. She was a dear sister to John Perillo and his wife Doris, the late Al Perillo and his late wife Marie, and the late Fred Perillo and his late wife Arlene. She is also survived by many dear nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Monday, March 4th from 10 AM-12 Noon, with a prayer service in the funeral home at Noon. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
