Colin William Estes
September 2, 1985-February 19, 2024
Colin William Estes, 38, passed away at home on February 19, 2024.
He was born on September 2, 1985 in Muncie, IN, the son of Rodger and Karen "Suzi" Estes. Colin was a proud, studious, and discerning businessman, faithful Christian, and devoted husband. Colin enjoyed taking his family on trips, golfing, going to the gym, and swimming. He taught swim lessons to his family, and worked hard with his hands. Colin was adventurous, full of life, and had a keen sense of humor, which brought a lot of laughter and joy to those lucky enough to spend time with him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Chelsea V. Estes; stepson, Sebastian; brothers Cody and Carson Estes; grandfather, Ray Estes - St. Augustine, FL; aunts and uncles, Reid and
Kathy Estes - St. Augustine Beach, FL, Ryan and Lesa Estes - Angola, IN, Robyn Coatney (Craig) - Angola, IN, Kirk Whitaker, Diane and Tim Gray - Marion, IN, Debra Whitaker of Berry, KY; cousins, Tucker Estes - St. Augustine Beach, FL, Tyler, Turner, Natalie Marshall, Molly Williams, Shelby, Connor, and Erin; nieces and nephews, Cameron, Baleigh and McKaylynn of Middletown, IN.
Colin was preceded in death by his parents, Rodger and Karen “Suzi” Estes. Grandma Rosie Estes of Angola, IN, Grandpa Jack and Grandma Dorothy Whitaker of Gary, IN, and infant nephew Boone Estes.
Colin graduated from Anderson High School Class of 2005. After moving to Panama City, FL, Colin studied financial planning and business management at Gulf Coast State College. He was most proud of his business that he named Estes Excavation and Drain and established in 2019. He was always grateful to the friends and family who helped him make his business dreams come true, which made it possible for him to take his nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly, on several trips to make many wonderful memories.
Colin cared a great deal about family and establishing a family of his own. On May 4th, 2023, Colin and Chelsea were married in St. Augustine, FL on a beautiful beach located on the River to Sea Preserve in the Town of Marineland, officiated by his beloved Uncle Reid. Colin always said, even in his final days, that it was the happiest day of his life. He was always trying to learn to be the best man he could be, including being the best "Bonus Dad” for his stepson, Sebastian, by teaching him all he could with the time Colin had.
Anderson First Church of the Nazarene became the home church for Colin and his family in June 2023. He experienced meaningful spiritual growth in his devotion to walking, each day, with Jesus Christ, and he read his devotionals, daily, until the last day of his life.
Colin was a strong man with a sensitive nature and a heart of gold, always working hard to make sure others were content when he could. He would drop everything and take his beloved friend and adopted Grandma, Alice, to lunch. Colin had two spiritual fathers, Mike and Bill, who he loved dearly and were so meaningful in his life's journey. His thoughtful, caring nature, will be remembered more than anything, along with his fun and mischievous playfulness, larger than life hugs, and his love of Menards.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at 4 PM at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service. Visitation will also be held on Sunday from 2-4 prior to the funeral service.
