It is with a heavy heart we share the loss of Joel A. Tudisco. Joel passed away at Hartford Hospital on February 21 after a tragic motorcycle accident. He resided in Canterbury, CT with his wife, Erin (Cmar) Tudisco. Joel worked full time to support his family: homeschooling their 3 sons, Noah (13), Landon (11) and Oliver (6). He devoted every free moment to his kids, their learning and their growth. Joel grew up in Groton, CT where he met Erin, and they began their lives together, before kids, in New London, CT.
In his short 45 years, Joel dedicated himself to the service of others in the nursing field. Known for his boundless passion, he most recently worked caring for those struggling with mental illness. Joel’s legacy expands far beyond his profession. He was a lifeline to many, always there when no one else was. Many people have shared they would not be where they are in life if it wasn’t for him. Joel touched the lives of all those he met, in immeasurable ways.
Those who knew him will always remember his kindness and love for his family and friends, his whit and his non-stop sense of humor. Joel would humbly describe himself as “just a guy,” but he leaves a legacy that says so much more. There is a huge emptiness felt because of his loss.
Joel was dedicated to Erin and was her best friend. He was also a loving Dad and best friend to their three boys. Joel was happiest spending countless hours around the fire, listening to music, playing cards, and pickle ball with his family.
In addition to his wife and children, Joel is survived by his parents, Jack and Anita (Green), sister Lisa, nieces Alexus and Camilla, Erin’s mother, Barbara Schacht Randall, his sister-in- law Kristin and husband Ian, nieces Maya and Sage, nephew, Dakota and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Joel was also an organ donor, continuing to serve others with the gift of life. His smile and kindness will never be forgotten.
Erin and her boys wish to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support they have received during this most unexpected and heartbreaking time. Services will be private. A celebration of Joel’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to help defray funeral expenses, medical bills and to provide assistance with the ongoing needs of Joel’s wife and three young boys, would be gratefully appreciated and can be made at GoFundMe
