Lucy (Carnevale) Schiavoni passed away peacefully at Artis of Reading on Wednesday morning, February 21st. She was 89 years old. Born in Isernia, Italy, she came to the United States as a young child, first living in Boston’s North End, and then settling in Medford. She was the daughter of the late Cosmo and Benedetta (Pietrangelo) Carnevale.
Lucy embarked on a long career with John Hancock Insurance in Boston as a young woman. As the oldest of four children, she delayed the completion of high school so that her income would benefit her family. She later finished school. Respected and valued for her administrative skills, Lucy worked for several decades with John Hancock before retiring. She was a devoted wife, sister, aunt and friend. She and her late husband Frank enjoyed travelling and spending time with family and friends. Lucy was a devout woman who attended Mass daily.
The beloved wife of the late Anzermo Frank Schiavoni, who passed away in 1982, Lucy was the devoted sister of Cosmo Carnevale and his wife Diane, Mario Carnevale and the late Joseph Carnevale. Lucy is also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Wednesday, February 28 from 4 - 8 PM and again on Thursday morning at 10:30 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in Saint Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford at 11:30 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
